Invisalign Edinburgh
Invisalign works by using a series of clear aligners that are custom-made for each patient’s set of teeth. The aligners gradually straighten the teeth and are used to treat a range of orthodontic problems including underbites, overbites, crossbites and gaps.
- Easy, convenient treatment
- Discreet Aligners
- No Metal Bands
- Practically invisible
The treatment process consists of five stages:
Stage 1: Free Consultation
The first visit will consist of a free initial consultation in which your teeth straightening requirements will be addressed and your suitability for Invisalign will be assessed. If you choose to proceed with treatment an impression will be taken of your teeth. Photographs will then be sent with specific instructions for the creation of your bespoke aligners.
Stage 2: Aligners are constructed by Invisalign
Invisalign uses state of the art 3D computer imaging technology to create custom-made, removable and clean aligners specific to your case.
Stage 3: Aligners received
At your second appointment you will receive your first set of aligners. You will also usually receive several additional sets to be worn before your next visit. The recommended time for wearing each set is two weeks.
Stage 4: Aligners worn for 6-12 months
The aligners should be worn at all times and must only be removed when eating, drinking or brushing and flossing your teeth. As your teeth move you should change the aligners every two weeks. Treatment time varies but on average will take between 6 to 12 months. You will need an appointment roughly every 6 weeks in order to make sure treatment works effectively.
Stage 5: Treatment complete
When you have worn the whole series of aligners the treatment will be complete and the result will be straighter, more balanced smile. A further option of receiving a retainer will then be discussed with you.
