Dr Lawrence Sharkey

I’m Lawrence Sharkey, one of the dentists at Barnton Dental Spa.

My number one principle of practice is to never let my patient leave without a smile. This guiding principle has served me well to this day, and I can safely say that I have kept consistently true to my word.

Patient satisfaction is my number one goal. A common theme that arises when talking to my patients is how relaxed they are during treatment in the knowledge of what’s going on.

My key interests lie in the fields of diagnostic, restorative, and conservative dentistry. My philosophy is performing the least invasive treatment whilst providing the maximum benefit. During university, I achieved the highest possible grade for my patient presentation following this very principle.

I have spent time overseas in Hong Kong, learning dental management strategies for dental problems arising from modern day stress. This links in with my previous work, assisting in a dental phobia management and cosmetic restorative centre. My time was spent assisting arguably the top anti-anxiety specialist in Scotland and Scotland’s best young dentist winner.

I have a great love for theatre, having performed in 20+ musical theatre productions, and produced and directed shows. I also enjoy going to the gym, and have a recreational interest in hiking, cooking, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

I am focused on furthering my skills through postgraduate education, and my next dental goal is to reach a MFDS diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons.
