Single Tufted brush

What is it?

Single tufted brushes consist of a small group of filaments specially arranged and then mounted to a regular toothbrush handle.

Where does a single tufted brush need to be used?

They are ideal for cleaning areas of the mouth that are hard to reach, including areas around orthodontic appliances, crown, bridgework and implants. This is due to the configuration and angle of the brush’s head.

Do the brushes replace my regular toothbrush?

The brushes should be used alongside your regular oral hygiene appliances—they are not designed to replace your regular toothbrush.

Why is a standard toothbrush not enough?

A normal toothbrush is incapable of reaching many of the small and hard to reach areas in the mouth. Orthodontic appliances and implants require thorough plaque control because bacteria are more likely to build up in these areas. In such cases, a single tufted brush often proves itself more useful and effective.

How is a single tufted brush used?

After establishing the angle of the tip of the brush you should place the bristles against the surface that is to be cleaned. You can then either:

• Splay and agitate the bristles to clean around an orthodontic appliance.
• Splay and move the bristles in a small circular motion to clean implant abutments.
• Splay and sweep the bristles along the line of the gum to clean teeth located at the back of the mouth.

How often do I need to use the brush?

The areas around prosthetic work or appliances need to be cleaned at least once every day unless your hygienist or dentist advises otherwise.
